SquareBear — Agile Project Management Platform

A full Scrum & Kanban work-tracking platform — sprints, backlogs, roadmaps, and Git-integrated delivery in one tool.
The challenge
SquareBear set out to build a genuine alternative to the incumbent project-tracking tools — something that could hold a real engineering team's Scrum and Kanban workflows without feeling like a stripped-down clone. That meant covering the full surface a team actually needs day to day: sprint planning, backlog grooming, issue and bug tracking, custom workflows per team, and reporting — not just a task board with columns.
Our approach
We built SquareBear as a single platform spanning both Kanban boards and full Scrum ceremonies — sprint planning, backlog management, and burndown-style reporting — backed by configurable workflows so teams aren't locked into one fixed set of issue states. Role-based permissions control who can do what across projects, teams, and organizations, and real-time dashboards give leads visibility into sprint health without exporting anything to a spreadsheet. Collaboration is built into the object model itself — comments and mentions on tasks and issues, not bolted on as a separate activity feed — and we connected the platform to Git providers and CI/CD pipelines so a commit or pull request can reference and update an issue automatically, alongside time tracking and file attachments on every task. The whole platform is exposed through a REST API, so teams already invested in their own tooling can integrate SquareBear rather than migrate everything into it, and every surface is fully responsive for teams that plan sprints from a laptop and triage bugs from a phone.
The outcome
SquareBear launched as a complete, opinionated platform for teams running Scrum or Kanban — covering planning, execution, and reporting in one product rather than stitching together a task board, a separate reporting tool, and a spreadsheet for roadmaps. The REST API and Git/CI-CD integrations mean it slots into a team's existing engineering workflow instead of requiring one, which was the gap SquareBear set out to close from the start.
